The Product Information File (PIF) is considered the entire cosmetic product on paper. Under Article 11 of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 the responsible person must keep a PIF for every cosmetic product placed on the market.
What the PIF contains
- Product description – clearly linking the file to the product.
- Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) – Part A and Part B.
- Manufacturing method and a statement of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (ISO 22716).
- Proof of the claimed effects – where justified by the nature or effect of the product.
- Data on animal testing performed by the manufacturer, its agents or suppliers.
Keeping the file
The PIF must be readily accessible to the competent authorities at the address of the responsible person shown on the label, in a language they can easily understand. All documents are kept for 10 years after the last batch of the product has been placed on the market – even if the product is no longer produced.
We prepare and compile the complete PIF for you – from the safety report to the label draft – so you have one organised dossier ready for any inspection.
